Palccoyo features three distinct mineral-striped ridges, unlike Vinicunca which only has one main viewpoint.
A short, mostly flat 30-minute walk from the parking area takes you to the main viewing areas. The trail reaches an elevation of 4,900 meters (16,076 feet). This high-altitude route provides sweeping views of the Andes without a strenuous climb.
You must stay on the designated trails at all times. Walking on or climbing the fragile mineral-striped ridges is strictly prohibited to protect the ecosystem.

This viewpoint offers the initial look at the first colorful mountain ridge. It takes just a 30-minute walk from the parking area to arrive. Take it slow here to catch your breath. You need time to acclimate to the 4,900-meter altitude.

A gentle walk along the flat path brings you to the stripes of the second mountain. Notice how the colors shift depending on the cloud cover and sunlight. Keep entirely on the path while taking photos.

A higher vantage point brings all three mineral-striped mountains into full view. This spot offers the best wide-angle photography of the entire valley. Drones are restricted here and may require advance permission or extra local fees.

Flat pastures line the trail where local Quechua families herd alpacas and llamas. The animals graze peacefully in their natural habitat. Keep a respectful distance from the herds. Always ask permission before taking close-up photos of the locals.
